We are searching for a Greek teacher experienced in teaching according to the Ministry’s Analytical Programme (Greek as a second Language) for Primary school to join our private school in September 2023!
Your job as a Greek teacher will be enabling students to gain a good command of both spoken and written language, encouraging them to express their ideas in a variety of situations. We expect you to encourage students to read and analyse literature and improve their critical thinking skills.
We appreciate project based approaches in education and multicultural communication. As a successful candidate you know how to combine different teaching methods and create engaging lessons. You should also be capable of teaching children with different Greek levels within the same class. As a part of the team you are representing our institute on and off campus.
Our new private school is located in the New Port area of Limassol, Cyprus and is a full-time school for 5-14 year old students from different cultures. We provide multidirectional world-class education in multiple languages to help every child find their place in an incredibly dynamic, multinational world. The staff within the school are highlighted as very creative, supportive, and welcoming to newcomers joining the team. The parents are very motivated to support the educational process of their children.

Requirements:
Being a qualified Greek Language / Philology teacher according to KYSATS
Ability to teach Greek up to and including B2
International experience of working with children and their parents
Excellent communication skills
Working permission for Republic of Cyprus or willingness to get one
The ability to adapt and provide a tailored approach to a variety of children's needs
A strong work ethic and passion to develop children
Basic Level of spoken English is an advantage
Basic Level of spoken Russian is an advantage
Responsibilities:
Planning appropriate lessons to meet the guidelines of the Greek State Educational Programme for Primary and Secondary, keeping up to date with changes
Creating engaging lessons to involve pupils of all abilities, coordinating with colleagues and TAs where needed
Setting up the classroom, organising displays and equipment
Using a mix of resources to enhance pupil’s exploration of the topic
Using different teaching methods, including whole class, group work, independent research, demonstrations, experiments and play, to motivate and encourage interaction in the class
Communicating effectively with the pupils so they are clear about the objectives of each lesson and project
Providing help and support to individual pupils as required, taking responsibility for their academic progress
Teaching lessons at an appropriate level to include all pupils, aiding their understanding of the subjects
Carrying out assessments and setting homework
Completing administrative work. E.g., taking registers, updating records, marking work and writing reports
Setting expectations for discipline and behaviour including dealing with inappropriate behaviour according to school policy
Liaising with other teachers through meetings to provide the best possible support
Following safeguarding and health and safety procedures
Organising outings, after school clubs, social activities and sports events
On-going training events in or outside of school
Meeting with senior staff, parents, or external bodies to discuss pupils’ progress or any concerns
Attending staff meetings and parents evenings
Liaising with senior leadership, parents and external bodies in relation to progress, behaviour, child protection and health
