Mexican variety from the Mexican State of Zacatecas. Very large fruit with orange skin, very juicy pale golden yellow to red flesh, and sweet watermelon and peach flavor. Fruit repens in August to September and handles and ships well. Oval-shaped pads with a few spines, highly productive. The third most popular variety in commercial planting acreage in Mexico.

Opuntia ficus-indica is a shrubby, large cactus to about 6 m tall with flattened, sparsely spiny, green shoots and yellow or red flowers followed by oblong, sweet and juicy, edible fruits. Opuntia ficus-indica is widely naturalized and cultivated for its fruits and young shoots that are known as nopales in Mexico.
