Minox 35 GL – Ultra Compact German 35mm Film Camera

The Minox 35 GL is a legendary ultra-compact 35mm film camera designed in Germany, known for combining pocket-sized portability with surprisingly high image quality. It is one of the smallest full-frame film cameras ever made, yet it offers full manual control and a very sharp lens, making it highly popular among film enthusiasts who want a discreet but capable everyday film camera. It features a high-quality Minox 35mm f/2.8 lens, well known for its sharpness and pleasing analog rendering.

This specific camera is in excellent condition both optically and externally, as shown in the high-definition close-up photos taken with a professional lens. The body is clean and well preserved, and the lens is clear.

The camera is fully tested and everything works as it should, including shutter cocking and firing, shutter speeds (which appear accurate), ISO dial operation, and smooth functioning of both the front aperture and focus wheels. The light meter has also been tested using a professional external light meter and is accurate and consistent.

The camera originally uses a PX27 5.6V mercury battery, which is no longer available today, like many older film camera batteries. To operate the camera, I used 4x LR44 (or SR44) batteries, which are widely available, wrapped together with tape to form a single 6V power source. Because of this slight voltage difference, there may be a very small variation in the light meter readings compared to a professional meter, but this will not affect your photos. Slight overexposure is often preferred in film photography, or it can easily be compensated using the ISO dial (for example, setting ISO 100 when using ISO 200 film).

A great little camera with excellent German engineering and an amazingly sharp lens, ideal for everyday film shooting and collectors alike.
