A 1.2m single ended pair from Esprit's Beta series, the entry point to the French maker's main ranges. 720 strands of 0.07mm 5N OCC copper, two dielectric materials in one cable and 20 micron silver plated connections. From a series that is no longer produced. Beta is the first of Esprit's main cable ranges, sitting below Celesta and Eterna. This is a 1.2m pair with RCA plugs, a length that suits a source connected to an amplifier standing beside the rack rather than directly above or below it. The series was discontinued when Esprit moved to its G10 generation in 2026, and the price reflects that rather than anything about the cable itself. What it does An interconnect handles a very small signal, so the design priorities are interference rejection and the behaviour of the insulation rather than sheer conductor size. Beta uses 720 strands of 0.07mm 5N OCC copper, continuously cast to keep the copper crystals long. The conductors sit in a symmetrical arrangement while the insulation is deliberately asymmetrical, combining a stiff high temperature PVC with a soft silicone. Connections are silver plated copper at 20 microns and a ferrite choke is fitted to reduce radio frequency pickup on the run. How it sounds and where it fits This is the part most cable pages overstate. An interconnect is a small change and it behaves differently in different systems. Beta makes sense in a system of roughly €2,500 to €6,000 as a first move away from the free cable in the box, with the spend kept in proportion to the components. A 1.2m run is long enough to reach an integrated amplifier placed beside the rack. Single ended runs are best kept short, so if both boxes are stacked, our 0.6m Celesta pair may suit better.
