Solid wood reference stands developed for the Harbeth Monitor 40, 36 cm tall and the heaviest in the range. Price per pair. The Monitor 40 is Harbeth's flagship and a very large cabinet, so its stand is the lowest in the TonTrager range at 36 cm and the heaviest at 3.4 kg. It is also the only one priced above the rest, because of the extra material the wider top plate and stronger structure require. TonTrager builds in Fussen, in the Bavarian Alps, and makes nothing but sound furniture. The reference stands are developed specifically for Harbeth monitors rather than adapted to them, which is why each one is a different height. Construction is solid wood from FSC certified local forests, with no metal and no plastic anywhere in the stand. Extended tenons carry cabinet resonance directly out of the loudspeaker and decouple it from the floor, and the surfaces are finished with natural oils and pigments over several stages. The stands arrive ready assembled. Height is the reason a matched stand matters. Every Harbeth model is a different size, and the stand height is set so the tweeter lands at seated ear level with that particular cabinet on top. A generic stand at the wrong height loses the driver integration the designer worked to achieve, and no cable or amplifier puts it back. The standard finish is black beech.
