It is The Connected, an integrated amplifier that brings streaming, digital conversion, vinyl and analogue sources together without asking you to compromise on the amplifier itself. Its sibling, the A200, takes the fully analogue route from the same 150 watt core.At its heart is a 150 watt Class A/B amplifier section using Hegel's SoundEngine2, which detects distortion where it occurs and cancels it before it travels further down the signal path, rather than correcting after the fact. With stability down to 2 ohm loads and a damping factor above 4000, the H200 keeps its composure with demanding loudspeakers and complex music, and holds the bass drivers firmly enough that rhythms are easy to follow.The digital side is properly engineered rather than bolted on. Coaxial, optical, USB-B, USB-A and network inputs feed a DAC developed in house alongside the amplifier and streamer, with careful attention to power supplies, grounding, clocking and layout.
