The Mola Mola Tambaqui takes the discrete converter developed for the Makua preamplifier and puts it in its own chassis. It is a two board stack: incoming digital audio is upsampled to 3.125MHz and 32 bits and converted to noise shaped PWM, then two mono DACs, each a discrete 32 stage FIR converter with a single stage fourth order filtering I/V stage, turn that back into analogue at a 130dB signal to noise ratio. Distortion stays below the noise floor even at full scale.With a lossless digital volume control and headphone outputs it can also run as the control hub of a digital only system, feeding a power amplifier directly with no preamplifier in the path.Mola Mola is a Dutch manufacturer, the high end arm of Hypex Electronics, with electronics designed by Bruno Putzeys.
