F2 This is a very interesting unbranded version of the Yashica Power Zoom 105, also known in different markets as the Yashica Zoomate 105 or Kyocera Zoom 105. Although the outer shell does not carry the Yashica name, this version was produced from the same camera platform and with the same internal parts and optical design used in the branded Yashica model. During the late 1990s, manufacturers such as Kyocera also supplied white-label and unbranded versions of existing cameras for retailers, promotional use, and other markets. These versions could appear without the Yashica logo, but underneath the branding they used the same mechanics, electronics, zoom system, and lens construction as the corresponding Yashica camera. This is what makes this example especially interesting. Even though it is unbranded, it carries the same 38–105mm zoom lens system associated with the Yashica version, so you are essentially getting the same Yashica/Kyocera technology and optical quality without the name printed on the body. Yashica lenses from this period were well regarded for producing good sharpness, strong contrast, and pleasing colour, and this camera benefits from that same optical heritage. At the time, Yashica was owned by Kyocera, the Japanese company also responsible for manufacturing high-end Contax cameras. This gave Yashica compact cameras access to a strong background in optics, electronics, and precision camera manufacturing. The camera offers a very useful 38–105mm power zoom range, suitable for everyday photography, travel, portraits, street scenes, and more distant subjects. It also features autofocus, automatic exposure, motorized film transport, built-in flash, and a zoom-linked viewfinder, making it a very easy and convenient point-and-shoot camera to use. This particular example is in excellent condition overall, has been fully tested, and is working great. Although it is the unbranded version, it is still essentially the same Yashica/Kyocera camera with the same parts, same technology, and same quality zoom lens system, making it a particularly interesting alternative for collectors and film photographers. The camera uses 2 × AA batteries, which are not included.
