Olympus AZ-300 Superzoom 35mm Film Camera – 38–105mm Zoom – Fully Tested F2 The Olympus AZ-300 Superzoom is one of those wonderfully distinctive late-1980s film cameras that immediately stands out from the crowd. Released in 1988, it was designed as a kind of bridge between a simple point-and-shoot and a more advanced SLR, giving photographers a powerful zoom range and sophisticated automatic features without the need to change lenses or deal with complicated manual settings. Its futuristic body shape, large hand grip and integrated 38–105mm f/4.5–6 zoom lens give it a very unique character. The zoom range is extremely useful for film photography, covering everyday wide-angle scenes, street photography, travel, portraits and more distant subjects, all with one camera. One of the most interesting features of the AZ-300 is its zooming real-image viewfinder, which changes its field of view together with the lens so that your framing follows the selected focal length. This example is in excellent overall condition, especially considering its age, and presents very nicely as shown in the photographs. It has been fully tested and is working great, including the zoom, autofocus, shutter, film transport and flash functions. On the upper rear section of the body there is a small plastic/rubber insert or resting pad missing from the textured grip area — the position is shown in the photo with the red arrow. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the operation or handling of the camera, but it is mentioned for complete transparency. The viewfinder also has some visible internal dust, which is noticeable when looking through it. The camera remains fully usable, but this is also mentioned clearly so the buyer knows exactly what to expect. The camera is powered by 2 × CR123 lithium batteries, which are not included. A very interesting choice for someone who wants something different from the usual compact film camera. The AZ-300 has a genuine late-1980s futuristic look, a very useful 38–105mm zoom and plenty of automatic features, making it ideal for travel, street photography, everyday snapshots or simply enjoying the experience of shooting 35mm film with a camera that feels completely different from modern digital equipment.
