About the Position
Overview
The position is with a European family of two adults and three children. The children live at the house for approximately half of each month.
This is a full-time monthly position with an unusual schedule that offers considerable flexibility. During the two weeks each month when the children are at home, the schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, with occasional additional hours when required. During the other two weeks, the workload is significantly lighter, at approximately 16 hours per week.
There are also approximately two months each year when the family is away and the workload is extremely light or, at times, non-existent. This provides the opportunity for extended paid time off.
The role combines housekeeping, household organisation, cooking, driving and occasional childcare. We are looking for someone who will take ownership of their responsibilities, notice what needs to be done and help keep the household organised and running smoothly.
Main responsibilities:
Drive the children to school five mornings per week
Collect the children from school when required, approximately two afternoons per week
Cook and prepare meals and snacks for the children
Manage the household laundry from start to finish, including clothing, bed linen and towels — from the laundry hamper through to clean, folded and organised items in wardrobes and cupboards
Clean all rooms thoroughly on a weekly basis
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of common areas on a daily basis
Monitor household inventory, including food, toiletries and cleaning supplies
Complete the weekly grocery shopping
Notice maintenance issues or other problems around the house and either resolve straightforward issues or promptly flag them to the employers
Supervise the children during the afternoon when required
Drive the children to local activities or appointments when required
Carry out deeper cleaning and organisational tasks when the children or family are away, such as cleaning windows and terraces and organising wardrobes, cupboards and storage areas
Occasional evening babysitting
Running errands
In the future, coordinating cleaners/maintenance/gardening people
