Original black and white press photograph by Andre de Dienes (1913-1985), the photographer who discovered Marilyn Monroe and shot for Esquire, Vogue and LIFE. A figure study in sand dunes - his signature work: natural location, natural light, a living pose.
What makes this one collectable is the back. It carries the full provenance of a press copy:
- the photographer's own studio stamp, PHOTO ANDRE DE DIENES, 1401 Sunset Plaza Drive, Hollywood
- a one time publication rights stamp
- an editorial date stamp, OCT 17 1966
- and a handwritten note from de Dienes to the editor, signed by him
So you get an autograph and a documented press history on the same print. The mark in the top left corner is in the negative, not a fault of the print - the photographer says so in his own handwriting on the back.
Gelatin-silver print on paper. Paper size 27.3 x 27.6 cm (10.75 x 10 7/8 in), square image. Light creases and handling marks normal for a press print of this age - see photos, both sides shown. Kept flat in an archival sleeve.
Viewing in Geroskipou, or shipped flat between rigid boards.
