Recording onto physical tapes gives you that nostalgic, hands-on feeling of shooting, rewinding and replaying your own recordings. The natural colour rendering, characteristic motion and subtle texture of MiniDV footage have also become popular among enthusiasts, independent filmmakers and content creators looking to achieve an authentic old-school video aesthetic rather than simply applying a digital filter.
Its 3CCD technology makes it particularly interesting, offering impressive colour reproduction for a consumer camcorder of its generation.
