This is the Agfa Optima Flash Sensor (also known as the Agfa Optima Sensor Electronic Flash), a beautiful example of German camera engineering and design. Produced in Germany between 1981 and 1983, it belongs to the iconic Agfa Optima Sensor series, famous for its distinctive Bauhaus-inspired styling, simplicity, reliability and high-quality construction. It is the fifth and only model in the Optima Sensor line to feature a built-in flip-up electronic flash, making it a particularly interesting and collectible model.

The camera features a quality Agfa Color-Apotar 40mm f/2.8 lens, a sharp and reliable lens designed to deliver excellent image quality with natural colours and good contrast. The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture makes it a versatile lens for everyday photography and various lighting conditions.

The camera body itself reflects the excellent build quality of classic German manufacturing. It has a solid, well-crafted construction with a beautiful design and a quality finish that was typical of Agfa cameras from this era. The shutter is functioning, the red light warning indicator in the viewfinder is working, the focus mechanism is smooth, and the ISO adjustment ring operates smoothly. The film loading mechanism works correctly and the advance lever operates perfectly.

The lens glass, camera body and viewfinder are all exceptionally clean, showing the excellent care this camera has received throughout its life.

The built-in electronic flash requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included).
