Rare Early 20th Century Mercury Glass Micro-Beaded Evening Purse – Circa 1900–1925
A truly exquisite and beautifully preserved antique micro-beaded coin purse / miniature evening pouch, dating approximately to the early 20th century, circa 1900–1925. At approximately 100–125 years old, this is a wonderful example of the intricate craftsmanship and luxurious detailing found in period evening accessories.
The entire purse is covered in exceptionally fine silver-lined mercury glass seed beads, hand-knitted directly onto a sturdy black fabric foundation. The beads are arranged in an elegant, dimensional ribbed fan design, creating a wonderfully sculptural surface. The clear outer glass of each tiny bead magnifies the silver lining within, producing an extraordinary sparkle and luminous effect as it catches the light.
The purse is finished with an ornately engraved silver-tone frame, featuring beautiful floral and decorative detailing. A classic double-ball kiss-lock clasp provides a secure closure while adding to the authentic antique character of the piece.
A delicate silver-tone curb chain handle completes the design, allowing the purse to be carried elegantly by hand or around the wrist.
The interior retains its original black fabric lining, which remains clean and intact. The inside of the metal frame displays a beautiful, natural vintage patina consistent with its age, adding character and further enhancing its authentic antique appearance.
