I am many years into 2 channel stereo and this little thing amazed me the way its amplifier drives- reminds me a 2,0 Lt turbocharged sports car when you push it: the further you push the further it delivers. So does this thing. Connect any pair of speakers sensitine or not, the further you push this amp the further it goes : Drives big floorstanders clean with finesse and effortlessly and still had the gas to push further ---Amazing!!! This amp is a great value, its double the money for dynamic drive low and distortion.
I lift the amp up (its almost 10 kilos) and I opened it up by removing top cover: After looking inside it is a design you find in higher end more expensive amplifiers. Wow!!! BIG FAT transformer the kind you see in higher end audio gear. Power supply with 2 huge (water tank like) audio capacitors (of a known brand upper class) and an array of Mosfets fixed on a huge cooling assembly. This thing is over engineered (say turbocharged). First thoughts: Keep it for me? BUT: its not mine.
The CD-player is typical Yamaha natural flowing sound: rich mature and captivating. The onboard PLL radio receiver picks all FM stations even with the stupid pigtail single wire antenna factory supplied. Plug an aftermarket T-antenna and the soundstage opens and the stereo image gets deeper where it should be.

The amplifier has many inputs so you can upgrade: MD, DAT, AUX, Tape loop, TV, Video. plug your phone. The system comes with matched pianocraft 200/300/400 Yamaha speakers finished in Lucid Piano shiny black. See them in another ad. It sounds best with its own speakers but does extremely well with more expensive speakers, it supports them fine and sounds more the upper class category. For the money 115: a killer amp, great radio and great CD player ........ come on!!!!!
