The Hegel HD12 DSD is a digital to analogue converter from the Norwegian manufacturer Hegel Music Systems. It combines a 32 bit conversion and digital filter stage with Hegel's own USB implementation, a high quality headphone output and both balanced and single ended analogue outputs. Because the analogue outputs operate at variable level, the HD12 can be connected directly to a power amplifier or a pair of active loudspeakers and used as a digital preamplifier, which makes it a flexible heart for a streaming or computer based system.
