The Lab12 Gordian is a mains distributor and conditioner with a built in measuring instrument, made by Lab12 in Greece and offered here as a preowned unit at €1470. This is the UK socket version, so it takes standard UK type G plugs, the normal domestic socket here. That makes it a straightforward fit, with no adapters needed. What it does The Gordian does three jobs. It distributes mains to six outlets from a single 20A IEC C20 inlet. It filters, using adaptive EMI and RFI filtering with common mode and differential mode stages plus adaptive power factor correction, and the topology is configurable from the front panel rather than fixed. It also measures. An OLED display reports RMS voltage, frequency, RMS current, total harmonic distortion, DC on the mains, power factor and consumption, and shows an FFT analysis of what is arriving at your sockets. Overvoltage protection is built in. How it sounds and where it fits We will not make claims about what a conditioner does to tone, because that depends on your mains and your system. What can be said plainly is how to use it. The two low filtered outlets are rated at 3500W and 15A, so they are the ones for a power amplifier, where current delivery must not be restricted. The four high filtered outlets, at 1000W and 4A, suit sources, streamers, DACs and phono stages, the components most exposed to mains noise.
