A 1.2m balanced pair from Esprit's Beta series, the entry point to the French maker's main ranges. Built on 0.32mm strands of 5N OCC copper with two dielectric materials and 20 micron silver plated connections. From a series that Esprit no longer manufacture. This is a 1.2m pair of Beta balanced interconnect. Beta is the first of Esprit's main ranges, below Celesta and Eterna, and the series has been discontinued since the maker moved to its G10 generation in 2026. At 1.2m it is the usual length for a preamplifier to power amplifier link, or from a DAC across to an integrated amplifier standing beside the rack. What it does A balanced link sends the signal twice, once inverted, and the receiving input takes the difference between the two. Noise picked up along the way lands on both legs equally and largely cancels, which is why XLR is the better choice for longer runs or a room with mains noise nearby. Esprit build the balanced Beta on thicker 0.32mm strands of 5N OCC copper rather than the fine strands used in the single ended cable, with symmetrical conductors, asymmetrical insulation using a stiff and a soft dielectric, silver plated connections and a ferrite choke. How it sounds and where it fits An interconnect changes less than almost anything else you could buy, and the result depends on the equipment either side. The practical case for this cable is a system around €2,500 to €6,000 with genuinely balanced electronics, where the standard cable in the box is the weakest link. The cable is directional and marked with arrows, so fit it running towards the amplifier. Frequently asked questions Do I need balanced connections to use this? Yes, both components need XLR sockets. Adapters exist but they give up the noise rejection that makes a balanced link worthwhile in the first place. Why is there a 0.6m version as well? Because length should match the layout.
