The primary connection is high level, through a Neutrik Speakon cable taken from your power amplifier's speaker terminals, so the subwoofer receives exactly the same signal and the same amplifier character as the main speakers. That is why a REL tends to integrate rather than announce itself. Alongside it there is a low level RCA input and a separate LFE RCA input, so the same unit can run high level from a stereo amplifier and LFE from a processor at the same time.How it sounds and where it fitsThe 10 inch driver and matching passive radiator give useful output down to 27Hz without the overhang that ported designs can bring. In a cinema it fills in the bottom two octaves that even good floorstanders miss, and in a two channel system it adds weight and room loading rather than obvious bass. It suits medium to large rooms, roughly 25 square metres upwards, and partners well with floorstanders of normal sensitivity.
