The GLE 90 S2 is the three way tower at the heart of the range: two 192 mm woofers, 90.5 dB sensitivity and a 20 Hz lower limit in a cabinet only 21 cm wide. GLE is Canton's high value range and the S2 generation is the current one. The tweeter is a 25 mm aluminium dome, the mid and bass cones are aluminium titanium black, and sensitivity across the range is unusually high, which means a modest amplifier drives them properly. That sensitivity is the reason to look at GLE seriously rather than dismiss it on price. A loudspeaker at 90 dB per watt asks a quarter of the power of one at 84 dB for the same level, and an amplifier working well inside itself sounds better than one working hard. Canton has built loudspeakers in Weilrod, in the Taunus hills north of Frankfurt, since 1972, and is the largest loudspeaker manufacturer in Germany.
