The Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 is a compact network streamer, digital to analogue converter and preamplifier in one small chassis. It is the model most people start with when they want to add proper streaming to an existing system without adding a rack full of boxes. This is brand new boxed stock, supplied by Dreamcrest Audio as an authorised Eversolo dealer with the full manufacturer warranty. What it does It takes the place of a streamer, a DAC and, if you want, a preamplifier. Tidal, Qobuz, Highresaudio and Presto Music run on the unit, Tidal Connect is supported, and it is certified Roon Ready. Files play from network shares over SMB, NFS, WebDAV or UPnP, or from an internal M.2 NVMe drive. Two ES9038Q2M converters run one per channel behind an XMOS XU316 interface, decoding PCM to 768kHz and native DSD512. Outputs are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, with HDMI ARC for a television. Gen 2 against Gen 1, and Master Edition against standard Gen 2 keeps the twin ES9038Q2M layout of the original DMP-A6 and improves what is around it: an upgraded linear power supply, HDMI ARC, a 12V trigger output, Wake on LAN and a touchscreen retuned for colour accuracy. The Master Edition then adds a short list of upgrades over the standard DMP-A6 Gen 2. Two ultra low phase noise femtosecond audio clocks replace the standard clocking, an OPA1612 operational amplifier array with a 1.1nV per root hertz noise floor is used in the output stage, and the volume knob is illuminated. Converters, screen, streaming platform and connections are shared, so the Master Edition is about noise and jitter rather than new features. How it sounds and where it fits The ES9038Q2M pairing is detailed and slightly leaner than the AKM converters used in the DMP-A8 series, which often works well with warmer valve or Class A integrated amplifiers. The Master Edition clocking and output stage show up as a quieter background rather than a change in tone. At 270mm wide it fits a desk, a shelf or a small rack.
