Streamer and DAC in one enclosure, built around Aavik’s fully chipless Continuum DAC, which converts every input to DSD512 before a non switching filter and a simple analogue output stage. The Aavik SD-x88 series puts a network streamer and a digital to analogue converter in one enclosure, so the digital signal never has to travel between two boxes and two power supplies.Conversion is handled by Aavik’s Continuum DAC, a fully chipless design. A custom programmed FPGA converts everything arriving at the inputs to DSD512, a specialised digital filter smooths the signal without switching, and a simple analogue filter finishes the job. Power comes from a power factor corrected resonant mode supply.The Aavik x88 series is the result of Michael Børresen working with Flemming Erik Rasmussen, the founder of Gryphon Audio, who joined Aavik in 2021.
