The changes are not cosmetic. A new soft dome wide surround rear chambered 27mm tweeter replaces the 22mm unit used elsewhere in the range, and the crossover has been brought down to 2kHz so the tweeter carries more of the presence region.That lower crossover point is what you hear first. Voices and strings integrate more smoothly with the 18cm EP77 polymer bass and mid driver, imaging tightens up and the top end sounds more open without becoming bright. Bass reaches 36Hz from a cabinet only 165mm wide.At 85dB sensitivity and a 6.75 ohm nominal load it wants a little more current than the A2.2, and rewards a capable 100 to 150 watt amplifier.
