It holds no converter and no analogue stage: its single purpose is to take music from your network, your NAS or its own internal storage and hand it to your DAC with the lowest possible jitter and noise.The clock system is inherited from Matrix Audio's flagship model and runs in two modes. Internally, a femtosecond clock references an RF synthesiser to produce a highly stable, low phase noise audio clock. Externally, an incoming 10 MHz reference takes over, so the output clock stays phase synchronised with a master source such as the Matrix Audio SC-1 clock generator.Power is fully linear throughout, built around a 60 W toroidal transformer with multiple low noise regulators. Two independent transformer windings separate the digital processing core from the USB DAC output, and that USB output is electrically isolated, cutting the ground connection between the transport and your DAC to remove a common path for noise.Outputs cover optical, coaxial, AES EBU and IIS LVDS, with the I2S connection carrying PCM to 768 kHz and DSD512.
