Battery
514 cycles out of a 1000-cycle design rating, condition reported by the system as Normal. Apple does not expose a capacity percentage on Intel Macs, only these two figures, and both are in the photos.
Condition
Personal machine, bought in 2020, never opened and never repaired. The discrete GPU is detected by the system and every port works. The photos include the system_profiler output showing both GPUs, the VRAM and the battery cycles, so none of this rests on my description.
Software
macOS Sequoia, and the machine supports macOS Tahoe 26, the current release.
Straight about the main thing
This is an Intel Mac, and Tahoe is the last macOS these machines get. After that, security updates only. If you want a laptop for many years ahead, buy Apple Silicon and I will not try to talk you out of it.
But if you want an editing machine, do the arithmetic: 32 GB of RAM, 8 GB of VRAM and a 16-inch screen do not exist at this money in Apple Silicon. An M1 Air in the same budget gives you 8 or 16 GB and no discrete graphics. For Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, Lightroom and heavy projects that gap is the entire point, and it is why this machine still makes sense.
