Minolta riva zoom 115 - elegant 35mm film camera with aspherical lens tested

F2 The Minolta Riva Zoom 115 is a stylish and elegant 35mm point-and-shoot camera from the mid-1990s, also known as the Freedom Zoom 115 in North America and Capios 115 in Japan. Its smooth rounded design, metallic-silver finish and fully retracting zoom lens give it a particularly refined appearance compared with many bulkier compact cameras from the same period. Despite offering a useful long zoom range, the camera remains compact and lightweight, making it an excellent choice for travel, everyday photography and casual film shooting. One of its strongest features is the Minolta 37.5–115mm aspherical zoom lens. The front of the lens is clearly marked “Minolta Aspherical Lens.” Aspherical lens elements help reduce distortion and optical aberrations, contributing to sharp, well-defined images with good contrast throughout the zoom range. The camera also features Multi AF autofocus, designed to recognize subjects away from the exact center of the frame. This makes it especially useful for quick snapshots, portraits and candid photography. Other useful features include automatic exposure, built-in flash with multiple shooting modes, close-focusing capability and fully automatic film handling. The camera is in excellent overall condition, with a very clean and elegant appearance and only very small signs of normal handling. It has been fully tested with film, and everything is working flawlessly. Autofocus, zoom, shutter, flash, film loading, film advance, rewind and controls all operate correctly. The camera requires 1 × CR123 battery, which is not included, but it can be purchased separately. LCD Screen Note Please note that the LCD display has some age-related LCD bleeding, visible as dark patches mainly around the edges of the screen and near the upper-center area. Despite this, the display remains fully usable, and the important icons and information are still clearly visible, as can be seen in the photos. This issue is limited to the appearance of the display and does not affect the operation of the camera. Apart from this clearly mentioned LCD issue, the camera is in excellent condition, fully tested with film and working flawlessly, making it a very elegant and capable Minolta compact film camera.
