Minox became world famous for its tiny precision cameras and discreet “spy camera” reputation, and the CD 128 brings some of that unmistakable Minox character into a more practical everyday 35mm point-and-shoot camera. Authentic Minox Optics – The Minoxar Lens The crown jewel of this camera is its Minoxar 38–128mm zoom lens. Minox built its reputation around precision engineering and quality optics, and this lens gives the camera a much more serious photographic character than many ordinary budget point-and-shoots from the same period. Important Note About the Exterior Finish Originally, this model came with a grey / graphite soft-touch coating on parts of the body. Unfortunately, like many cameras and electronics from this period, the original coating had deteriorated with age and had become sticky. For this reason, the deteriorated coating was carefully removed completely. The camera now has a beautiful black and silver appearance, which actually suits the Minox design very well. The body now feels clean and pleasant to handle, without the sticky surface often found on untreated examples. This is purely a cosmetic change and does not affect the camera mechanically, optically or functionally in any way. Battery The camera uses 1x CR123A 3V lithium battery. Battery is not included. Overall, this is a very attractive Minox CD 128, combining authentic Minox optics, German photographic heritage, classic spy-camera-inspired styling and a practical 38–128mm zoom lens.
