Key Advantages of the Wharfedale 507.2

• Advanced Aluminum-Dome Tweeter: The speaker features an in-house developed 19mm (0.75-inch) ferrofluid-cooled aluminum-dome tweeter. This design pushes the problematic "oil-can" resonant frequency high up to 37kHz—well outside the audible spectrum for humans—resulting in exceptionally crisp, clear high frequencies without the harshness found in lower-quality metal domes.
• Patented Bayonet-Fastening System: Instead of securing the woofer to the front baffle using traditional woodscrews or T-bolts, Wharfedale utilized a unique, camera-lens-like bayonet locking mechanism. This provides perfectly uniform clamping pressure around the driver, reducing unwanted chassis vibrations and eliminating visible screw heads for a much cleaner aesthetic.
• Rich, Present Midrange and Soundstage: Thanks to its 8-inch mineral-loaded polypropylene-cone woofer, the speaker delivers a presentation with substantial acoustic "body". Acoustic instruments like pianos, saxophones, and guitars sound full and lifelike. Listeners describe the soundstage as wide, deep, and intimate—placing you right "up front" in the mix rather than offering a distant, laid-back presentation.
• Improved Off-Axis Response: The ".2" revision explicitly upgraded the speaker's directivity. This enhanced off-axis response makes the speakers much more forgiving with placement, creating a stable, broad sweet spot in standard living spaces.
• Robust Cabinet Construction: The internal enclosure features heavy-duty particle-board construction with horizontal bracing below the tweeter and a generous amount of internal wadding. Additionally, the rear panel is recessed by an inch to structurally stiffen the sidewalls, minimizing midrange cabinet coloration.
