Minolta Dynax 40 35mm Film SLR Camera + Minolta AF 35–70mm f/4 Macro Lens Excellent tested
A beautiful example of Minolta's late-era film photography engineering, the Minolta Dynax 40 is a compact, lightweight and versatile 35mm autofocus SLR introduced in 2004. Also known as the Maxxum 50 in North America and the α-50 in Japan, it represents one of the final generations of Minolta film SLR cameras before the company's camera division was transferred to Sony in 2006.
Combining modern autofocus technology with the timeless appeal of analogue photography, the Dynax 40 is an excellent choice for film enthusiasts, collectors and anyone wishing to rediscover the pleasure of shooting on 35mm film.
Included Minolta AF 35–70mm f/4 Macro Lens
The camera comes with the highly regarded Minolta AF 35–70mm f/4 Macro, a classic standard zoom lens appreciated for its compact design, constant f/4 maximum aperture and excellent versatility. Sometimes affectionately nicknamed the Mini-Beercan, this lens offers a useful focal range for everyday photography, portraits, travel and close-up subjects.
The lens features a dedicated Macro mode for close-up photography. Please note that when Macro mode is engaged, focusing must be performed manually by turning the lens's focusing ring; autofocus is not available in this mode. To use autofocus, simply return the lens to its normal operating mode. This is a characteristic of the lens's Macro function and not a fault.
