The Olympus CAMEDIA C-2100 Ultra Zoom is a fascinating camera from the year 2000, a particularly interesting period in photographic history when major camera manufacturers were making the transition from traditional film photography to digital imaging.
This was an important stage in the evolution of photography, and the C-2100 is an excellent example of the engineering and innovation of that era. Unlike many basic early digital cameras, Olympus equipped this model with an impressive optical system, image stabilization and a versatile range of photographic controls.
An Impressive Optical System
One of its greatest attractions is its impressive 10x optical zoom Olympus lens (7–70mm, f/2.8–3.5), featuring quality glass and optical image stabilization.
Equivalent to approximately 38–380mm in 35mm format, this powerful zoom range provides excellent versatility, allowing you to capture everything from wider scenes to distant subjects.
The 2.1-megapixel CCD sensor delivers photographs with the distinctive colour rendering and character associated with early CCD digital cameras. Its images have a unique appearance and colour signature that many photography enthusiasts still appreciate and actively seek out.
Excellent Build Quality & User Experience
The C-2100 features a particularly well-made, substantial body with excellent ergonomics, a comfortable handgrip and thoughtfully positioned buttons and controls.
Everything feels properly designed, making the camera comfortable and straightforward to operate. It is a camera that gives you a genuine sense of the quality and attention to detail that Olympus put into its products during this period.
Another particularly useful feature is the ability to compose your photographs using either the rear LCD screen or the electronic viewfinder. You can comfortably frame your subjects through the rear screen or use the viewfinder for a more traditional shooting experience.

Condition & Testing:
The camera is in remarkable cosmetic condition for its age. Not only is the exterior body exceptionally clean, but the lens and electronic viewfinder are also remarkably well preserved.
The camera has been fully tested and is working wonderfully. The lens, zoom mechanism, controls and camera functions have been checked.
The battery compartment contacts are clean. Please note that the internal battery compartment cover has some minor imperfections, as shown in the photographs. This is purely cosmetic and does not affect the camera's usability.
Memory Card & Image Transfer:
The camera comes with a 32MB SmartMedia memory card, which can store approximately 64 photographs using the HQ (High Quality) image setting.
Please note that to transfer photographs to your computer, you will need a compatible SmartMedia memory card reader, which is not included. These are specialised readers for this older memory card format.
Important Battery Information:
As an early-generation digital camera, the C-2100 is relatively power-hungry compared with modern digital cameras. For the best experience, I recommend using good-quality AA batteries, preferably high-capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries. Battery performance will depend on the quality and condition of the batteries used.
Original Sample Photographs:
Sample photographs taken directly with this camera are included in the listing. These are original, straight-out-of-camera images, presented without additional editing or adjustments, allowing you to appreciate the camera's genuine image quality and distinctive CCD colours.
A wonderful opportunity to own a well-preserved example of Olympus digital photography history. Equally interesting for collectors of early digital cameras, photography enthusiasts and anyone who appreciates the distinctive character of CCD imaging.
