Sony cyber-shot dsc-w5 - 5.1mp digital camera | carl zeiss vario-tessar lens |

18 The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5 is a beautifully engineered digital camera from an important period in the evolution of digital photography. Combining Sony's renowned electronics with premium Carl Zeiss optics, a solid metal construction and a practical, traditional photographic design, the W5 remains an appealing example of early digital camera engineering. Premium Carl Zeiss Optics One of the camera's greatest highlights is its Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 3x optical zoom lens (2.8–5.2 / 7.9–23.7mm). Carl Zeiss is a name internationally respected for optical precision, contrast and image quality. Unlike many inexpensive compact cameras of its generation, the W5 benefits from genuinely prestigious optical heritage, delivering pleasing detail, clarity and the characteristic rendering associated with Zeiss lenses. Its 5.1-megapixel CCD sensor offers the distinctive photographic character of early digital imaging, making it particularly interesting for enthusiasts who appreciate the colours and rendering of vintage digital cameras. Solid Construction and Traditional Photography Features The W5 features a beautifully finished brushed-metal body, giving it a reassuringly solid feel and a quality of construction that stands out among many compact cameras of the period. Another excellent feature is its combination of a large 2.5-inch LCD display and a genuine optical viewfinder. You can compose your photographs using the rear screen or switch to the optical viewfinder for a more traditional shooting experience. The screen can also be switched off when using the viewfinder, helping to conserve battery power. Convenient AA Battery Operation Unlike many vintage digital cameras that depend on increasingly difficult-to-find proprietary batteries, the Sony DSC-W5 operates using two standard AA batteries (not included). You can use ordinary alkaline batteries or rechargeable NiMH batteries, making the camera particularly convenient to operate today. Excellent Cosmetic and Working Condition The camera is in excellent overall condition, both cosmetically and optically. The body is exceptionally well preserved, and the lens and viewfinder are in excellent condition. All camera functions have been tested and are working properly. The LCD screen has only a few very minor surface imperfections, which are not scratches readily visible during normal use. They can only be noticed under certain lighting conditions when examining the screen closely. When the display is switched on, it looks practically like new and provides a beautiful, clear viewing experience. Memory Card Solution – Ready to Use! The Sony DSC-W5 uses Sony Memory Stick media. To make using the camera much easier today, I am including a practical memory card solution consisting of: Sony Memory Stick Duo adaptor. Memory Stick PRO Duo-compatible microSD adaptor. Samsung 2GB microSD memory card. microSD-to-standard-SD card adaptor. This combination allows you to use the supplied 2GB microSD card in the camera through the included adapters. An additional advantage is transferring your photographs: When you want to move your pictures to your computer or compatible phone, simply remove the microSD card and insert it into a microSD card reader. Alternatively, you can use the included microSD-to-SD adapter if your computer or card reader accepts standard SD cards. With the supplied 2GB memory card, you can store approximately 793 photographs at the highest image quality setting, giving you plenty of room for your photography. If you prefer transferring photographs directly from the camera without removing the memory card, I can also supply a suitable USB connection cable as an optional extra. Sample Photographs Taken With This Camera I have also included sample photographs taken by myself using this very Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5. These are genuine photographs captured with the actual camera being offered for sale, allowing you to see first-hand the image quality, colour reproduction and performance of its Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. A Beautiful Example of Sony's Digital Camera Heritage The Cyber-shot W5 brings together several qualities that made Sony such an important name in early digital photography: premium Carl Zeiss optics, a substantial metal body, a proper optical viewfinder and convenient AA battery operation.
