The SU-1 is a USB interface manager for hi-fi and professional audio systems. It accepts up to three USB sources and feeds up to two DACs or digital audio interfaces, so everything can stay connected and you switch with one button instead of unplugging cables. A dedicated professional grade digital isolation chip electrically separates each signal path and isolates the grounds, breaking the electrical connection between data, power and ground lines at both ends. This removes ground loop noise and high frequency interference from the USB chain, and guards connected equipment against surges and lightning damage, while preserving signal integrity. Power comes from a fully encapsulated toroidal transformer linear supply with multiple ultra low noise regulators. The SU-1 provides a 5V / 1000 mA ultra low noise output with real time load detection, which detects overcurrent and short circuit faults and cuts the output quickly to protect downstream equipment. Operation is a single front panel button with input and output status LEDs. A short press cycles through the USB Type C1, Type B1 and Type B2 inputs; a long press switches between the USB Type A1 and Type A2 outputs. USB transmission impedance is optimised for long runs: a single side cable can reach 4 metres, with input and output cable length up to 8 metres in total, so the source and the DAC do not need to sit next to each other.
