Mercedes G55 AMG Kompressor RIDA B6 Armored owned and used by the Kremlin in the mid 2000s

Considering selling my 1 of 1 RIDA built B6 armored G55 AMG Kompressor.

This is a totally unique G-Class with an incredible history and heritage.

First off unlike most armored G wagons this wasn’t built using a basic bolt-in armor kit. The vehicle was fully re-engineered by RIDA, one of the best known armored vehicle manufacturers in Russia, a company known for building vehicles for governments, politicians and high profile clients.

The level of engineering in this thing is honestly insane. The car was built using RIDA’s integrated ballistic capsule design meaning the protection is built into the structure of the vehicle itself rather than simply having armor plates added into the doors. The entire shell of the vehicle was redesigned to remove ballistic weak points around hinges, pillars and seams.

It is B6 rated and designed to withstand high powered rifle fire. It also has reinforced floor and blast protection which was a major part of RIDA’s engineering on their higher end vehicles. Even the glass is unbelievably thick compared to most armored cars.

The rear of the vehicle was completely redesigned for chauffeur use and is probably the most interesting part of the whole car. Unlike a normal G wagon where rear seat space is terrible, this one has a fully redesigned rear cabin with the seats sitting further back to create much more legroom.

The rear seats are fully electric and reclining and even have lumbar adjustment built into the center armrest. It also has the original AMG television system with remotes included along with countless switches and controls throughout the cabin. Honestly every time I get into the car I find something new.

The entire interior including the dashboard, pillars and roof lining was retrimmed in Nappa leather to a very high standard with cream leather seats throughout.

Under the bonnet is the supercharged 5.5 litre AMG V8 Kompressor engine which sounds incredible and has instant power exactly how these older AMG cars should feel.

From the documentation we received from RIDA the vehicle was reportedly commissioned for Russian government use when new. After its time in Russia the car later went to Kazakhstan before eventually ending up in Malaysia and then the UK. I bought the car last year from the owner of a British Formula 1 team who had acquired it at auction.

There is a large amount of paperwork, documentation and history with the vehicle which I’m happy to show to serious buyers.

Setting aside its remarkable history and provenance, the level of engineering and bespoke work involved in this build was exceptional for its time, and remains exceptional even by today’s standards. The original commissioning cost exceeded the equivalent of £1 million, and the quality of engineering is still clearly evident throughout the vehicle. To reproduce an identical specification today would likely cost even more, given the sheer amount of specialist labour, structural integration, and ballistic engineering required to achieve this level of protection and refinement.

This isn’t just another bare minimum armored G wagon. It’s a meticulously engineered high ranking government level vehicle with an incredible amount of work put into it and a truly remarkable and fully documented history and there genuinely isn’t another G-Class like it.
