Mini Cooper 1,6L 2007
Mini Cooper S – 2007
Selling my Mini Cooper S (December 2007). I purchased the car in 2023 and originally planned to keep it as a project. However, I now have a second vehicle and no longer want to continue investing time and money into a car that spends most of its time parked.
Highlights
* Genuine Mini Cooper S driving experience
* Strong performance and great handling
* Attractive colour combination with white roof
* Sporty appearance
* Significant investment in maintenance and repairs over the past year
* Extensive engine and turbo-related work already completed
Vehicle History
I want to be completely transparent about the car’s condition.
Following a routine service (oil change and front control arm replacement), ECU-related issues began to appear, including immobiliser faults and various electrical errors. The ECU was initially repaired but failed completely a few weeks later.
The car remained off the road for approximately four months. It was then taken to a Mini specialist, where the ECU and immobiliser were replaced. However, the system could not be fully adapted at that stage.
Later, the vehicle was taken to another workshop where the ECU software was correctly programmed and adapted. The car returned to normal operation and drove well again.
Several months later, the engine began overheating during hot weather, particularly when using the air conditioning. A major diagnostic process followed, along with substantial repair work.
Work Already Completed
The following parts and repairs have been carried out:
* Turbocharger rebuild (new cartridge and gasket kit)
* Oil pump replacement
* Vacuum pump replacement
* Oil cooler replacement
* Coolant pipe replacement
* Thermostat replacement
* Turbo oil feed line replacement
* Oil pressure sensor replacement
* Oil filter housing gasket
* Oil cooler gasket
* Exhaust manifold gasket
* Exhaust pipe gasket
* Valve cover replacement
* Fresh engine oil and filter service
* ECU software installation/update
* Various related labour and supporting components
Following these repairs, the vehicle completed several thousand kilometres without issue.
Current Condition
The car is currently running and driving, but still requires further work:
* Engine begins to overheat again after driving in hot weather with the air conditioning on
* Latest workshop recommendation is cylinder head removal and head gasket replacement
* Clutch is close to the end of its service life and requires replacement
According to the workshop estimate, approximately €2,500 of additional repairs would bring the car into very good overall condition.
Ideal For
This car is best suited for someone looking for:
* A restoration project
* A Mini Cooper S to build and enjoy
* A performance hatchback at a reasonable purchase price
* A mechanically-minded owner who wants a rewarding project
Once completed, this can be an excellent Mini Cooper S with a large amount of recent mechanical work already taken care of.
