Canon powershot g5 black professional point & shoot vintage camera complete kit
- Condition: Used
The Canon PowerShot G5 is a true classic in the world of professional compact cameras. Released as a high-end model with an original price around €800, this camera was designed for photographers who wanted full manual control in a compact yet extremely solid body.
Built like a tank, it features a high-quality anti-scratch body that still feels premium even today. The design includes many physical buttons and controls, allowing quick customization and giving you full creative freedom whether you shoot in manual mode or any other setting.
The camera is equipped with a sharp Canon 4x optical zoom lens (35–140mm equivalent) with a bright f/2.0–f/3.0 aperture. The lens produces beautiful, detailed images with excellent clarity and contrast. Even though it is a 5-megapixel camera, the image quality is impressive—especially the colors, which are more organic and closer to film than modern digital cameras.
Another big advantage of the Canon PowerShot G5 is that it allows you to shoot in RAW format. This gives advanced photographers much greater control, allowing you to extract the maximum quality from your images and fine-tune them during post-processing.
The camera is in excellent condition considering its age. There are some small cosmetic imperfections on the body and light marks on the screen, but these are only visible when the screen is off and at certain angles. When the screen is on, it is super clear both in the menu and in live view. The lens optics are clean and clear, and the viewfinder is also clean and brightThe camera has been fully tested and works flawlessly, delivering excellent results. The internal clock battery has also been replaced with a new one, ensuring accurate date and time settings.
On the front side, there was originally a small rubber grip which has been removed over time, something common with this model, but it does not affect the appearance or the functionality. Inside the battery compartment, the small clip that helps hold the battery is broken, which is also a known issue for this model. However, Canon designed the battery door with very strong and secure clips, so once closed, it holds the battery firmly in place with no issues at all. In practice, nothing is affected, and this is similar to other professional cameras where the battery is secured mainly by the door itself.
The camera uses Compact Flash (CF) cards, which are still easy to find today. It comes with a 512MB SanDisk card, which can store around 200 photos at the highest quality. You can also shoot more photos by lowering the resolution, or upgrade to a 1GB or 2GB CF card if needed.
The camera also features full manual mode, aperture priority, shutter priority, built-in flash, hot shoe for external flash, and a fully articulating flip and swivel screen which is very useful for creative angles and shooting flexibility. It is fully tested and ready to use, offering a unique shooting experience and beautiful image rendering that stands out even today.
The camera comes as a complete package, ready to use straight out of the box. It includes the camera, an original Canon BP-511 battery, a dual USB charger for convenient charging anywhere, a 512MB Compact Flash card, and a USB cable so you can easily transfer your photos directly to your computer without needing an extra card reader. An amazing opportunity to own a highly sought-after Canon G-series camera at a very friendly price, perfect for both enthusiasts and collectors.
Battery Note:
Please note that the included battery is in used condition. When using Live View, the battery will not last as long as it did when new. To extend battery life, you can turn off the display and use the optical viewfinder instead.
For extra peace of mind, I can also provide a brand-new aftermarket BP-511 battery for an additional €20 (original price €35).
Why buy from me?
Photography is not just about selling equipment for me — it is something I genuinely love and enjoy, just like many of the people buying from me. I share the same passion for cameras, lenses, vintage equipment, and photography gadgets, and this is one of the reasons I carefully choose the items I sell.
I also grew up working in sales, so over the years I learned not only how to sell, but how important honesty, trust, and proper presentation are. My experience in both photography and selling taught me how to correctly inspect, test, and evaluate equipment before offering it to someone else.
Every item I sell is treated the way I would personally want to receive it as a buyer myself. That means it is carefully cleaned, checked, tested, and serviced when needed before being listed for sale. I pay close attention even to small details because I know how important condition is to photographers and collectors.
Another thing that is very important to me is transparency. The photos you see in my listings are taken with a professional product photography approach, using proper lighting and high-quality digital cameras so buyers can clearly see the real condition of the item. I am confident to say that the way I present my items is not just among the best in Cyprus but also comparable to some of the most professional sellers worldwide. Only very professional sellers or businesses use dedicated product photography studios to present their items with full clarity and the highest level of detail — and I follow the same approach in my presentation. Many times I find myself noticing imperfections in the images that are difficult to see even with my experienced eye before the photos. My photos show everything in detail, often even more clearly than a buyer could see the camera from close. I highlight imperfections not only in the photos but also in the detailed description so the buyer knows perfectly what they will buy without surprises or excuses.
I also make sure to mention imperfections clearly in the description, not only in the photos. My goal is simple: I want the buyer to know exactly what they are purchasing, without surprises or excuses later.
Besides local platforms, I also sell internationally on eBay, which has very strict standards for sellers. I am proud to maintain 100% positive feedback across my selling platforms, and I believe this reflects the honesty, care, and professionalism I try to provide with every sale.
Photography equipment can sometimes be complicated, especially vintage cameras and lenses. For example, a lens can have fungus inside the optics — a serious issue that reduces image quality and lowers the value significantly. Digital cameras can also have common problems such as broken battery doors or clips, autofocus issues, or batteries that no longer hold charge properly. Some digital cameras also use specific or less common memory card formats that are not always easy to find in Cyprus, which can create delays for the buyer. That is why my listings are often complete with compatible memory cards, so the buyer can use the item immediately without needing to search for accessories or wait a long time to find the correct card. Point-and-shoot cameras may look simple, but they also need proper checking to ensure all functions work correctly.
Film point-and-shoot cameras require proper film testing to confirm that everything operates as it should. Even if a film camera passes a basic film test and the photos look great, in many cases the light seals are already dry due to the age of the camera. Over time, if they are not replaced, they will start to deteriorate and break down, allowing light to enter inside the camera and causing light leaks on the film. Mechanical film cameras are even more complicated — even if they pass a full roll of film and the results look great, there can still be hidden issues that only appear later, which is why proper inspection and long-term understanding of the camera is very important.
This is why buying from someone with real experience and knowledge can make a big difference.
All items are physically in my possession and ready to ship, usually the same or next day, so buyers can receive their item quickly and start enjoying it almost immediately.
And most importantly, I stand behind the items I sell. If something is genuinely not as described, I offer a 2-day return period so the buyer has enough time to inspect and test the equipment properly.
Finally, I am always happy to help with advice, recommendations, or guidance if someone is unsure about what camera, lens, or accessory would suit them best. Sometimes helping someone choose the right item is just as enjoyable to me as selling it.
